When I created art work, i typically dealt with clay. Although i never really experimented with the pottery wheel, I did use tools such as molds, an exacto knife, and a rolling pin in order to create my pieces. The molds are holes made in the shape of a certain object. In order to make that object you fill up the hole with clay and it will come out with the original mold shape. The exacto knife was a sharp knife with a small blade that made it easier to create smooth and neat cuts or shapes in my clay. I had also used the rolling pin (a piece of wood in a cylinder shape made to press down and roll on objects) to flatten my clay faster with less effort. These tools help me complete my projects faster and improved the overall quality of my final product. |
When i first started out, i never really saw tools as something so important. I knew i had used them all of my life but I never truly understand how many tools there are and how they could be used for different things. By being introduced to so many new types of tools in art i learned that I could use them for all types of art pieces. This realization allowed me to expand my limits in what i could make and also made things a lot easier for me. Soon after that I started making piece I never thought i was capable of making. |
What was your favorite material you used this year? Why do you like working with it? Although this sounds lame, my favorite material I used was paper. I don't just mean a plain sheet of paper, I mean quilling with paper was my favorite. I enjoyed quilling with paper because each shape and spiral you make looks different from other ones. Almost everything you make with it is unique. I also loved using it because your could make so many different and beautiful things out of something so simple. |
Which project was your most successful? Describe the theme and or topic and the process you went through to complete this project? My most successful project was my lady bug made out of wreath fabric. I consider it to be the most successful because it took the least amount of time and it looked like i had wanted it to look in the end. There wasn't necessarily a theme to it, I had just wanted to make something cute. The process in order to make this was short and painful. It involved me burning my fingers and making a big mess out of strings. Yet, i am proud that i was able to finish it and it being a success. |
What did you find most difficult about this class? This could be anything from gathering materials, to generating project ideas, to applying a particular technique. What could be done to resolve this issue further? I had a hard time generating project ideas in this class. I loved making things and being able to be creative. However, I sometimes spent a day just trying to figure out what I wanted to make for a project. This would lead me to rushing with whatever the first idea I got and having art pieces that were not how i originally planned them being. Some of my pieces lacked creativity and that disappoints me. In order to resolve this, I believe being inspired would have a big impact on me. Also examples would e very helpful so i could brainstorm and get some ideas off of them. |
