Paper has always seemed like a plain and dull material to me. That's why we draw and paint on it, so we can liven it up with beautiful creations. However. artist Richard Sweeney found a way to liven up paper by sculpting with it. Richard Sweeney was born in Huddersfield, England in 1984. he went to Batleys School of Art and Design in 2002 and since then has gone to Manchester Metropolitan University in order to study Three Dimensional Design. He now sculpts with basic materials such as paper and teaches people at workshops how to do the same.
Richard Sweeney's art drew me in because it was so unique. Never before have i ever seen someone sculpt with paper before. I especially was captivated by the sculpture of the girl. It just blows my mind how he was able to make it seem so realistic. this inspires me to try doing unique things such as this when im doing art. Maybe i could create sculptures out of basic material too.
